Last night on the original rock and roll gardening show we celebrated one of the more popular mid-March holidays, National Pi Day. Rock Garden Tour 108: Bladder Up!

 
The world of horticulture has a new greatest villain. Recent studies prove that the bladderwart (above) is the most aggressive carnivorous plant, out-munching the venus fly trap by something like 500 times the force of gravity. It's the stuff of legends, either that or the Cosmos Mystery Area. This week's podcast (better late than never) features less talk, and more witty banter on the subject.

Rock Garden Tour Family Band rehearses the finale of this week's show, an exploration into plant varieties that display qualities of true grit. Not sure if tiger lily really belongs in the group but its the only plant that worked with the song.

We missed a huge opportunity on Thursday night. The plan was to produce a rock and roll gardening show designed to help the listeners out there in the night transform their gardens into magical kingdoms. It started off with a bang. We talked to my niece Francie about her magical holiday adventure to Disney World. Next, I read a letter from Skunkweed regarding the magical properties of the Cinderella pumpkin. And then we jumped the shark. I thought a campfire Hakuna Matata sing along would kill (in a good way), I thought wrong. Enter the missed opportunity, we should have performed a parody with the Rock Garden Tour Family Band to the Disney smash from Beauty And The Beast titled Gaston, but instead of Gaston the great hunter we'd sing about Gutson Borglum the great sculptor of Mount Rushmore. Coulda' shoulda' woulda', stay tuned for the podcast.

Rock Garden Tour Family Band Records Honest Carol About Mistletoe

Tonight's show deals with various misunderstood holiday plants, mistletoe for example, did you know that its actually not a plant but a hemi-parasite? Makes you feel like kissing someone doesn't it? This video was shot yesterday afternoon as the Jackball and Flowerman recorded an honest carol about mistletoe. Listen to the debut tonight, live on the Rock Garden Tour, KCFS 94.5 from 8-10pm. Last night on the original rock and roll gardening show we talked about the synthetic vs. real Christmas tree debate. I wish I could say that we're all in a better place today but I'm not so sure. Its a challenging topic to discuss, a lot of ins and outs and strands in ol' Flowerman's head, but we did our best to keep it together.
