The Show Must Go On

Management wants us to take the week off. Firstly because of the holiday, and secondly because they're taking the short week to move our production studio from Brandon, SD to downtown Sioux Falls, SD (The Queen City). With the countless hours we spend in the studio prepping the show, running lines, producing no nonsense interviews with coach, taming carnivorous plants, challenging each other to tavern eating contests, doing one armed push-ups, etc...management figured it would just be better if we spent this Thursday night giving thanks and what not. One thing they forgot to consider though - YOU. 

What if red spider mites attack your English Ivy? What if a ferret takes a bite of your ficus elastica? What if, God forbid, you overwater? Sorry management. We know you mean well but no thanks. Flowerman and Oil Can will spend Thanksgiving night (8-10pm) in KAUR 89.1  studio, where we belong. If you have gardening questions send them our way. We'll see what we can do.

Orange Gold At Norway Center!

 

Coach called us last night before the show to let us know that he harvested carrots yesterday down on the family farm at Norway Center, 5 bushels worth. As you can see, last time Coach harvested carrots it got kind of ugly for Can. Hopefully our senior sound effects coordinator can stay on the wagon this time around. Good goin' Coach.

The Rock Garden Tour gets back into the KAUR 89.1 studio tonight from 8-10pm. We plan on talking about container gardening in tight spots like dorm rooms, apartments, VW vans, etc...but you know how it goes. Just talked to the Coach about house plants and whether or not he'd recommend growing toad flax in-doors. Would tell you more but I don't want to give away the ending.

Ferret Killers

This week the Rock Garden Tour focuses on dorm/small apartment/vw bus-gardening. And as always, safety first: You'll want to keep any pets, exotic or otherwise, away from the following poisonous plants: Cyclamen, Amaryllis, Diffenbachia, Kalanchoe, Poinsettia, Norfolk Island Pine, Devil's Ivy, Philodendron, Dracaena, Nepthsis, Peace Lily, and the list goes on.

State Headlines: A Sioux Falls “Streaker” clad only in tennis shoes and a ski mask who did his thing before 3000 high school basketball fans will donate the nearly $600 he won in bets to the YMCA and do 50 hours of community service at the Sioux Falls arena as part of a plea agreement reached in his indecent exposure arrest.  He also must have a clean record for the rest of the year to keep this arrest off his permanent record.

King Koon Lives

Late last night a local volunteer rock & roll garden show host (aka Flowerman) watched a giant raccoon brutally attack a moldy jack-o-lantern on Phillips Avenue in Sioux Falls, SD. Flowerman recalls, 'it looked like a raccoon-gorilla hybrid, a king koon if you will. I fear for area gardeners.'

While the massive vermin poses little threat to gardeners now, Flowerman believes that it could wreak havoc next growing season. As for why the raccoon chose Flowerman's jack-o-lantern to jack-up, one can only speculate, 'It may be connected to the debut of the radio show, The Rock Garden Tour, on KAUR 89.1 every Thursday night from 8-10pm. You can also hear it on-line. We mix rock & roll and gardening in an effort to encourage people to join in the horti-cultural revolution. We share gardening advice. We spin eclectic free-range rock & roll. We perform haiku poetry. Who knows, maybe we struck a nerve?'

Threatened by local rock & roll garden show, local vermin declare war on area gardeners. Only the Rock Garden Tour can save us now.

Rock Garden Tour 1: Flowerman and Oil Can Return

The Rock Garden Tour returned to the air waves with mojo a plenty. We introduced ourselves. We discussed seed saving techniques with Coach Heeren. We attempted to give away a virtual Kevin Costner bobble head doll. All in all, it was just another show. Enjoy the podcast and keep it rural.
